Hey Now, You’re an All Star

Every now and then we take a look at songs that can put you in the right frame of mind for success. These are the songs that play at motivational seminars, because they have value in the way they affect our subconscious minds.

Today’s song is All Star by Smash Mouth, and you’ve almost certainly heard it before. But today, listen as if the chorus is talking to you, and about you. Really feel it.

I saw the band play this song live, and it was energizing. Like all Smash Mouth songs, it’s fun and quirky… but it also has an inspiring, motivating message.

So much to do so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets?
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow

[Chorus:]
Hey now, you’re an All Star, get your game on, go play
Hey now, you’re a Rock Star, get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

If I Had a Million Dollars

And now for something completely different… or at least a lot more fun.

How will you spend you next millions dollars?

Learning about how to be rich and increase your prosperity is fantastic, and we post a lot here on those topics. But sometimes just listening to the right song will get you in the mood to attract wealth as well.

Probably the most famous song by The Barenaked Ladies — fellows from Toronto, like myself, that I got to meet and interview several times — is “If I Had a Million Dollars” (or “If I Had $1,000,000”). And it gets played at millionaire mindset seminars and workshops around the world.

Here they play it live at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan in 2007.

Feel free to sing along for full effect…

If I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you a house, I would buy you a house

And if I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
I’d buy you furniture for your house, Maybe a nice Chesterfield or an ottoman

And if I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you a K-Car, A nice Reliant automobile
And if I had a million dollars, I’d buy your love

If I had a million dollars, I’d build a tree-fort in our yard
If I had a million dollars you could help, It wouldn’t be that hard

If I had a million dollars, Maybe we could put a little tiny fridge
In there somewhere, We could just go up there and hang out

Like open the fridge and stuff
And there’d all be foods laid out for us
Like little pre-wrapped sausages and things

They have pre-wrapped sausages, But they don’t have pre-wrapped bacon
Well, can you blame them? Yeah!

If I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you a fur coat, But not a real fur coat, that’s cruel

And if I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you an exotic pet, Yep, like a llama or an emu

And if I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you John Merrick’s remains, All them crazy elephant bones
And if I had a million dollars I’d buy your love

If I had a million dollars, We wouldn’t have to walk to the store
If I had a million dollars, We’d take a limousine, ’cause it costs more

If I had a million dollars, We wouldn’t have to eat Kraft Dinner
But we would eat Kraft Dinner

Of course we would, we’d just eat more
And buy really expensive ketchups with it
That’s right, all the fanciest Dijon ketchups

If I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you a green dress, But not a real green dress, that’s cruel

And if I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you some art, A Picasso or a Garfunkel

If I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you a monkey, Haven’t you always wanted a monkey?
If I had a million dollars I’d buy your love

If I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars, If I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars, I’d be rich!

10 Tips for Increasing Prosperity

http://gratitudeplanet.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/prosperity.jpgThere is no giving without receiving or receiving without giving. They form two sides of the same coin, and are part of the natural order of life.

Accepting and expressing gratitude for what you receive allows more to come your way.

Visual artist Lisa shares her top tips for remembering to be grateful and inspire the flow of increasing prosperity.

  1. When cashing out at a store, if there is a “Take a penny, leave a penny” tray, do so, even if you aren’t paying with cash. If you have a penny in your pocket, donate it to the tray. Tell yourself “I always have plenty of money.”
  2. When entering a building, offer to hold a door open for one or several people. Smile and nod and “play doorman” (or door person). Give the gift of service for 20 seconds. When someone opens a door for you, move right through and thank them. Tell yourself “I always have plenty of time to play with others.”
  3. When meeting someone for the first time, or even someone you know well, give them an honest compliment right away. Maybe say “wow, I love your shoes,” or “you seem to be in a great mood today.” This giving costs nothing, but is completely valuable and appreciated. Tell yourself “I give compliments easily. I see the best in others.”
  4. When eating out, tip more if you get amazing service. If your waiter or waitress is really fun and connected, and if you feel you got exceptional service, up your standard tip. If your default tip, regardless of service, is 15%, then give 20% or even 25% for amazing service. Tell yourself “I give and I receive freely. I have received amazing service, and I give back in joy right now. I have plenty of money.”
  5. If you have a business, give yourself the gift of meditation and focus on the expansion of the business. See it growing and serving others in more and more powerful ways. Take time to be quiet with yourself and allow your vision to take hold in your vibration. Imagine it unfolding powerfully. Tell yourself “I give myself to this vision, and I expect to live it as soon as today.”
  6. Create a fake ledger on your computer. Deposit fake money into it. Pretend it is real. Look on line for ways to spend it all. Let yourself enjoy deciding how you will spend it. What do you want? Enter your “purchases” in your ledger. Every day increase your deposit, and then spend it again. Donate as much as you want to to causes you believe in. Tell yourself “I can’t spend all this money fast enough. It just keeps coming back in greater and greater amounts.”
  7. Buy a new CD that thrills your heart. If you hear an artist or musical group that makes you feel great when you hear a performance on the radio or on TV, support them by buying a CD of their music. Pay full price for it and feel great about helping them expand their audience. Tell yourself “I give freely to people who make my life better through their art.”
  8. Give freely when you sense a need. If you are entering the grocery store and you see a hungry person outside, consider buying something to give them that they can eat immediately. They may ask you for money, which you can give them if you are inspired to do so, but choose something ready to eat that you know will nourish them. Tell yourself “I give to others in need. The Universe gives to me in my generosity and gratitude as well, always.”
  9. When someone offers to help you with something, or to give you something, accept their offer gratefully. Yes, it can take longer to have someone “help you” do something, but if you accept the offer in joy and openness, you can keep your flow open on the receiving end. Tell yourself “I receive gifts into my life freely, joyously, and openly.”
  10. Give gratitude and appreciation for what you have right now. Practice being content with the prosperity you are enjoying right now. Law of Attraction will bring you more abundance when it knows you already feel abundant and prosperous. Love where you are, and expect a lot more too. Tell yourself “I am abundant, prosperous, and completely in the allowing flow of the Universe. All is well in my life. I am open to the next expanding step.”

18 Ways to Increase Your Wealth

Prosperity TipsIf you’re looking for ways to increase your wealth and prosperity, much of it is about mindset and habits. And often entrepreneurship is one of the keys.

Here are 18 tips for increasing your wealth and prosperity:

18 Prosperity Tips

1. Instead of focusing on trying to make money, put your time and energy into creating value for others. Remember that money is simply a medium for exchanging value. Stop focusing on the effect (receiving money), and start focusing on the cause (value creation).

2. Start a business as a way to share your passion, your talents, and your knowledge with the rest of the world. Ask yourself how you can express your talents in a way that benefits others.

3. Stop thinking of what you can “get” from others (how much money you can make), and start focusing on what you can give (how you can increase the amount of value that you give to others).

4. Do your work with love. Just as resentment poisons your work, doing your work with love adds more value to it. There’s a novel titled “Like Water For Chocolate” by Mexican novelist Laura Esquivel. The protagonist, Tita, is a woman who loves to cook. When she cooks, her emotions become infused into her cooking, affecting all those who eat it. Think of the work that you do in the same way, and make sure that you infuse it with love.

5. Look for ways to have a positive impact on society through your business.

6. During times of recession people cut back on the fluff and they become more sensitive to receiving genuine value. This means that if you sell fluff, you’ll do poorly in a recession. But if you’re providing genuine value you should do fine, even if the pundits are running around screaming that the sky is falling.

7. Stop looking for happiness outside of yourself—for example, stop thinking the following: “I’ll be happy when I have six months of expenses saved up in the bank, and when I can finally move out of this dingy apartment”. Instead, tap into the happiness that is already within you and let it flow from you through your work.

8. Be optimistic. Believe that something different from what has happened until now can happen.

9. Ask yourself the following question: When I imagine totally diving in and working hard to make more money, what thoughts pop into my mind that make me feel that I’m not going to succeed? These are your limiting beliefs; work on eliminating them.

10. Make a list of the reasons why you think that you’re not making as much money as you would like to be making. These are your excuses. Stop making excuses.

11. If you feel that you’re creating value, but you’re not making money, it’s because of one of two reasons:

a. Others don’t perceive what you’re offering as being valuable. They’re telling you, “That’s not good enough”, or “That’s not what we want.” You need to go back to the drawing board with that feedback and improve your offer.

b. You’re not doing a good job of delivering the value. For example, if you have a blog and you produce great content, but you have low traffic, you’re not doing a good job of delivering the value.

12. If people don’t want to buy what you’re selling—or they don’t want to buy it at the price that you’re selling it for—don’t take it personally. This is the marketplace responding to what you’re putting out there: it’s simply the laws of supply and demand playing out. Modify your offer accordingly.

How to Shift to Prosperity Thinking

millionaire-mindsetPeople talk about the law of attraction a lot, mainly because it was featured in the movie The Secret. Before that, it really was… well, kind of a secret among the mainstream population.

But it’s not the only law at play when it comes to prosperity thinking, points out Sheryl Wolowyk, the Income Acceleration Coach. Wolowyk is a business advisor, entrepreneurial strategist, consultant, speaker, seminar leader and business coach who specializes in marketing and lead generation.

She talks about Wallace Wattles, author of The Science of Getting Rich, which greatly influenced The Secret:

The foundation of the law of attraction is as such: “There is thinking stuff from which all things are made. A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imagined by the thought. A person can impress his thought upon formless substance and cause the thing he thinks about to be created.”

In a nutshell, there is an abundance of wealth in the world, and we just have to visualize what we want, truly believe it is attainable, and start taking actions to receive it.

If it doesn’t exist already, it will come into existence by your thoughts, your belief in it, and your actions. Now it doesn’t just happen by thinking it. You’ll notice I mentioned taking action. The key is to take a lot of action, moving you forward and bringing about what you believed you could achieve. As a business coach, I’m all about taking action, but to often I see my clients holding themselves back because of their self-limiting beliefs.

When you create a powerful vision for where you want to go, truly believe you can get there, and take action, it’s amazing what you can do. Kind of empowering, isn’t it?

The real beauty of this mindset is in the next law that Wallace introduces: “A person must pass from the competitive to the creative mind.”

Focus on Abundance and Prosperity

moneyAs Lisa Nichols pointed out in the movie The Secret (the second version, when she replaced Esther Hicks in a re-edit):

“When you focus on lack and scarcity and what you don’t have, you fuss about it with your family, you discuss it with your friends, you tell your children that you don’t have enough — ‘We don’t have enough for that, we can’t afford that’ — then you’ll never be able to afford it, because you begin to attract more of what you don’t have. If you want abundance, if you want prosperity, then focus on abundance. Focus on prosperity.”

The point is, what you focus on is what becomes a bigger part of your reality — whether it’s poverty or prosperity, lack or abundance.

Sound woo-woo? Well, sometimes it’s presented that way, but it really isn’t.

If you’d rather think of this in more concrete terms, remember the last time you really wanted something. Maybe it was a certain make of car… and then all of a sudden you would see it everywhere. It wasn’t that the car manufacturer suddenly started making more, or just happened to sell more in your area. It was simply that you were focused on that make of car because you wanted one, and therefore you noticed it more.

As a result, you would also pay more attention to sales or deals that would allow you to get that car faster and more easily.

Now here’s the catch: it’s all about your emotions as you think about this thing.

So if you’re focused on the car but it makes you sad, angry or frustrated because all you can think about is how expensive it is and how you’ll never be able to get one, then you probably won’t — just like Nichols said. But if you feel excited and joyful about the prospect of owning it one day, then sooner or later you probably will.

Feeling grateful for what you have and what you someday will have is a good way to keep your emotions on track.

Another good trick is, when you find yourself thinking “I’ll never have…” shift it to “Someday I could have…” And since you’re using the word “could,” there’s very little for your subconscious mind to argue with there.

Create Your Own Synchronicity?

In my opinion, there are no such things as coincidences. Your attention is drawn to things that are important to you because what you focus on expands. People call it a “coincidence” like it’s completely random, but I don’t believe it is.

Things happen for a reason, and even if that reason is simply that you’re focusing on something, it’s still a reason (but I think it’s deeper than that). So to me, synchronicity is a better word. It doesn’t imply a disconnect the same way the word “coincidence” does.

Nonetheless, most people use the words interchangeably, so let’s not quibble about semantics. Instead, let’s focus on what matters… can you create your own synchronicity and use this phenomenon to your advantage?

The psychoanalyst Carl Jung was the first to talk about synchronicity. He used the term to describe those times when the unlikeliest things happen together. Not just at the same time, but exactly the right time we need them to. And it’s no coincidence that Einstein and Jung both believed in synchronicity. It was an idea they both discussed with each other. No doubt it played some part in helping Einstein develop his own theory of relativity.

By studying the make up of atoms, in the early 1900’s, Einstein and his buddy Max Planck began to challenge the way that science had been viewing reality for the past 3 centuries. Their views birthed a branch of physics called quantum physics.

Before these 2 paradigm-shifting thinkers shook things up, Newtonian Science ruled the day. Originating with the publication of Sir Isaac Newton’s book, Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica in 1687, scientists thought that atoms consisted of a solid nucleus (a dense centre) with a bunch of electrons orbiting around it. In other words, they were solid structures. However, when atoms were looked at in more detail, it was discovered that they are actually made up 99.99999% space and are mostly energy buzzing around. In fact, in the modern model of atoms, the electrons no longer look like mini-planets orbiting around the nucleus, but are seen as a cloud of fuzzy energy. These bundles of energy whiz around and constantly shift back and forth between a wave-form (energy) and aparticle (matter).

2013-10-22-Fotolia_54794269_XS.jpg
Now comes the weird bit! Some quantum physcisists claim that it depends on the observer and what he/she is expecting to see. This is what is known in quantum science as the observer effect. Not all science is in agreement, but this is hotly debated amongst the big minds.

Interestingly enough, a recent study in the February 26 issue of Nature (Vol. 391, pp. 871-874), supports this view. Researchers at the Weizmann Institute of Science have now conducted a highly controlled experiment demonstrating how a beam of electrons was affected by the act of being observed. In this experiment is was revealed that the larger the amount of watching, the greater the observer’s influenced the experiment and the beam.

This can certainly change our view on what we consider to be a coincidence or synchronicity. One might be tempted to ask the question:

“If my thoughts and expectations can effect the activity of an atom, and atoms make up the matter I see in my physical reality … then can my thoughts and intentions affect my physical reality?”

In other words, can you create your own COOL COINCIDENCES?

Abraham-Hicks on Law of Attraction (Part 5)

Abraham-Hicks is a pioneer in Law of Attraction teachings… a co-production, if you will, between Esther and Jerry Hicks and a spiritual being known as Abraham.

It was Abraham-Hicks teachings that originally inspired The Secret, and Esther Hicks was a prominent figure in the original edit of the movie.

In this video, the fifth of 5 parts, Abraham-Hicks talks about the Law of Attraction.

Abraham, Source Energy interpreted by Esther Hicks, delivers a 5-part introduction to their teachings on The Law of Attraction at a February, 2008 Abraham-Hicks Workshop. The complete presentation runs 40 minutes.

Esther & Jerry Hicks are the authors of numerous books based on the Teachings of Abraham and their latest book, “Money and The Law of Attraction”, reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

For over 20 years, Esther has translated blocks of thought from “Non-Physical Source Energy” – which she also identifies as her “Inner Being” or “Soul” – and who refer to themselves in the plural as “Abraham” (no relation to the Biblical figure).

Esther doesn’t use the word “channeling” to describe her process, but understands if others do.
