Update from Producer on the Entrepreneur Dreams

Some highlights Since posting Caine’s Arcade:

• Over $231,000 has been raised for Caine’s Scholarship Fund (which has been officially & formally set up!) thanks to over 19,000 individual donors
• Over 7 million views on YouTube and Vimeo
• Over 1 million views on our Part 2 followup Video
• Launched the Imagination Foundation and our first annual Global Cardboard Challenge with over 270 events in 41 countries engaging tens-of-thousands of kids worldwide in creative play.
• Caine was the youngest ever entrepreneur to speak at USC Marshall School of Business, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and recently spoke at TEDxTeen hosted by Chelsea Clinton. Caine also received the Latino Spirit Award from the California State Assembly, and a cardboard key to the city.
• Thousands and thousands of visitors to Caine’s Arcade (he still gets hundreds of customers every week!)
• Launching an Imagination campaign to engage 1 million kids in creative play

And we’re still going, having hired a great Executive Director to lead our Imagination Foundation, and we’ve been putting together a great Board of Directors to help lead to organization. Our next goal is to engage 1 million kids in 70 countries in creative play via our Cardboard Challenge. We will need help, so please get involved here and share this with friends/educators:

Meanwhile, my life has been transformed. 1 year later, I’m still working on Caine’s Arcade stuff, I got picked up by WME last year for writing/directing/speaking and I’m developing several feature film projects. I’ve also been doing a lot of speaking/travelling, and work on the Imagination Foundation.

Finally, we’re currently in the running to win a $100,000 LA2050 Grant to help us foster creativity and imagination in tens-of-thousands more kids- but we need votes to win. Voting is open til April 17th; it’s free to vote and just takes 1 minute. Please help us grow this movement by Voting for us here (and then sharing the link with friends):

Thank you for an amazing year!

GUEST POST: How to Prosper with Google Buzz

doug-champigny-200[1] Search engine giant Google has released a new Web 2.0-style service called Google Buzz. The service combines features like a comment stream for your followers, the ability to follow others, and a profile page to give you more exposure. So how does that help your Internet marketing or affiliate marketing efforts?

Let’s start with the obvious – it gives you another avenue of exposure, helping you brand yourself wider online and hopefully get your message in front of additional new prospects. Any time you can find a major site that lets you add your name, photo and bio, including your marketing information, is bound to help add to our overall online presence as a marketer, right?

Less obvious to newbie marketers is that it helps magnify the effects of tools you’re already using. Because Google Buzz lets you add your Twitter stream and your Blog’s RSS feed, it’s almost instantly additional exposure for your blog marketing and Twitter marketing activities.

With it’s Twitter-like system of following and followers, our stream only appears to those who choose to follow you on Google Buzz and those who visit your profile page. As such, this now presents one more way to get your internet marketing and affiliate marketing message, and links, out in front of another targeted audience. No doubt Google hopes that Buzz will grow to the size of, or larger than Facebook. Think of how much additional exposure this could mean for your marketing if that does come to pass?

But like any such opportunity, you’ll have to work to build your following at Google Buzz, especially in the early days of the service. Use the same advanced Twitter marketing strategies you used to build your Twitter following and keep it targeted for optimum results.

One aspect particular to the online Web 2.0 sites is that no one can predict which services will flounder and which will grow wildly – the actions of the potential audience are the sole determining factor – whether they choose to sign up for the site, use it regularly or abandon it. So as online marketers, we have to give it a shot with each of those showing the most potential if we want to be sure and get a great position in those that make it to the top.

For the sake of an hour’s investment of time, don’t risk your affiliate marketing or Internet marketing efforts being weakened by your competitors getting in and building a following first. Add Google Buzz into your online marketing toolbox and with time it may just grow to be a very powerful marketing weapon in your online arsenal!

We Live in Public?

We all reveal more about ourselves every day.

But can you reveal too much?

A new movie takes a look at the idea of doing everything in public. Some people had some fun.. and then there were problems.

The ups and downs of Josh Harris are fascinating.. even in this short trailer.

What would you do in public?

What would you share when the deal is “Everything is free. We just own the video”

Make Me Smile

I found this short film in 2008 and started sharing it. The more I shared it, the more stories we got back about how others were  pointing to this page to share it’s message and make people smile.

Soon I had watched it myself a least a dozen times, and used it in presentations as a social media expert, showing how each of the lines the hero uses are about the length of a tweet on Twitter. Now when I’m asked if Twitter can work, I refer others to this movie. It’s so obvious that big things happen from short messages.

Today, I return and watch it ever month or so, but hardly a day goes by that I don’t share this link with someone. The joy of hearing how others have used short messages like this to turn around a conversation, to uplift a friend or family member, or use a smile to make the day of  a stranger are my real joy.

Share a Smile and Share Your Story Below.

We switched the comment engine on this blog and lost hundreds of comments. Now you can comment and share on Facebook and start your own sharing. Please take a moment to let me know how your short comments and smiles make a smile.
